Brooke and Christy are so amazing at what they do, and a true pleasure to work with!  From engagement shoots to newborns, they do it all!  We were thrilled to participate when they pulled off a surprise wedding…see the results on Style Me Pretty here.

If you meet with Rebecca from Studio B, you are also likely to meet Maccabee, her sweet puppy!  We love that she spends the very little spare time she has photographing Rescue pups so they can find a forever home!  Just the type of vendor we love to work with! We recently had the pleasure of working with her twice…see the results on Style Me Pretty here and here.

Choosing your bridal accessories should be as exciting as choosing your wedding gown!  The accessories you select should reflect your personality, and create a wedding day look that is unique to you.

Consider selecting heirloom quality pieces that you can wear for decades to come, and hand down to future generations. Imagine beginning a family tradition, for instance wearing a brooch that can be easily incorporated by future brides on the strap of a dress, the bustle of a train or even on a cake or in a bouquet!

At Fabulous Frocks of Atlanta, we truly enjoy  helping our brides complete their wedding day look.  You are encouraged to bring in your wedding gown for inspiration.  You will receive one-on-one attention from an expert stylist who was trained by the best in the industry.  We have a full selection of bridal veils, bridal jewelry, embellished sashes, feathered headbands, floral combs, and custom garters!

Schedule your appointment to view the very best selection of bridal accessories in Atlanta.  We look forward to working with you!

For months, we have been looking forward to the Unveiled Event taking place in Atlanta on November 13th.  The Unveiled Event, produced by The Wedding Guys, offers Atlanta brides an opportunity to interact with Atlanta’s best vendors, take in a New York style fashion show, and admire some of the most inspirational ideas available.  Bruce Vassar of The Wedding Guys took a break from his super hectic schedule to give us the scoop on what to expect:

Q:  Year after year, your wedding events offer endless amounts of inspiration to brides throughout the country.  We are dying to know, what inspired you this year?

A:  We say inspiration is all around you.  Absorb your surroundings and feel the vibe and motion that comes from fashion and interior design.  Cosmetic colors are very HOT right now and we see this transferring into weddings over the next 18 months.  It’s why we call our Fall 2011 tour of UNVEILED “Lipstick”.  It’s not a theme it’s a one or two word inspirational thing!  The world is a canvass, go with what you think and dream and paint a story, not just a picture.

Q:  You were right on when you predicted muted grays and smokey colors for the 2011 color palette.   Looking forward, what colors do you see trending for 2012?
A:  Cosmetics colors both bold and fresh soft looks. I think you will see a return to RED and PLUM.  The color we call Contemporary Teal that we have seen over the year will start to fade. Always in a poor economic time we see a return to family and what honestly is truly important in life.  You will see a lot more weddings that have meaning about family and friends, and décor to tell the story not just of the couple but of the family.
Q:  The TrendSpot Fashion Show is always a highlight of the Unveiled Event.  What emerging trends can we anticipate on the runway this fall?
A:  Romance more than ever and very feminine looks, soft fabrics, and lace, lace, lace!  Again the return to the family of the 1940′s and 1950′s with an edge and nod to the 1960′s.  Brides are finding that this truly is a dress of a lifetime, which it should be.  It’s not like going shopping at Target, nor should it be.  The experience you have shopping for your gown should be just as important as the gown itself.
Sleeves – thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge are going to come back.  One sleeve, two sleeves, 3/4 length sleeves in delicate fabrics.  Delicate 3D flowers, stunning petite bows and ethereal looks.  Headpieces will become important again.  Look at a bride trying on a gown and she doesn’t want to have a veil…..then, she puts one on and the tears start flowing and she actually feels like a bride.  I laugh when I hear people say, you should feel like you do any day of the week when you find THE dress.  No you shouldn’t!  The dress is not a costume but for heavens sakes, your a bride!  You should feel different!
Q:  This Winter, The Wedding Guys will be producing a reality show featuring Randy Fenoli from Say Yes To The Dress.  The show, titled Randy to the Rescue, will air on TLC.  What excites you most about this new adventure?
A:  We think the most exciting thing about this show is to give brides who may never have the opportunity to work with Randy that wonderful exciting moment.  Both The Wedding Guys and Randy Fenoli are on the same page with this show – it’s all about the experience and the moment.  It’s about a bride truly finding her beautiful self and expressing it in her look.  Randy has been a friend of ours for years and it’s funny when we get together and we find that we think and want the same things for brides above and beyond just the dress, and I think this is what truly fuels our passion for the wedding industry and I hope you will all see this in the show.  Stay tuned in!
Thank you Bruce!  For more information on the upcoming event, and to purchase your tickets, visit The Unveiled Event.  We will see you there!

I have to admit…I absolutely love reality TV.  I have always been wedding obsessed, so the wide-array of bridal shows certainly keeps me busy.  I was thrilled to hear of Fashion Hunters, a new reality show about a high-end consignment shop in New York City.  The show follows four fashionable employees as they dig through the closets of Manhattan’s Elite in search of the best designer brands.  With labels like Gucci, Monolo Blahnik, and Christian Louboutin, even Carrie Bradshaw would feel at home in this boutique!

Fashion Hunters represents a growing trend in high-end consignment.  Stores like the one featured on the show and Fabulous Frocks of Atlanta offer a high-level of service in a boutique atmosphere so nothing but price is compromised.  Savvy customers are able to find designer fashion at a reasonable price-point.

Lets face it, when it comes to planning a wedding, there are better ways to spend your money than paying full retail for your bridal gown.  If Manhattan’s Elite are shopping consignment, I think it is fair to say that the rest of us can too!  For the best in bridal consignment, visit our gown gallery.  Don’t see what you are looking for?  Take a peak at the gorgeous gowns at our Charleston and Alexandria locations.  With a little notice, they can be made available to you too!  Happy shopping, ladies!

As a bride you are going to make an abundance of decisions while planning your wedding, but few decisions are as important as the choice of your wedding photographer.  After all, your wedding photographs will be lovingly displayed in your home for decades to come.  They are sure to be cherished by future generations.  The quality of you photographs will be dependent on the talent and creativity of the photographer you choose.

While there are many photographers in the wedding industry, it is rare to find a true artist like Jeremy Harwell of Harwell Photography.  Although he is much too modest to flaunt his accomplishments, Jeremy was picked as one of the world’s best wedding photographers by Junebug Weddings.  He is also considered to be the best of the best by Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book as well as The Knot.  Did I mention that he has been published by dozens of wedding publications including Atlanta Weddings and Weddings Unveiled?

I fell in love with Jeremy’s work when I saw this gorgeous photograph he took of our Valentino bridal gown.   I love how the photograph has a vintage feel to it.  I was dying to know more about the background behind this creative genius, and luckily he was willing to share!

Q:  Jeremy, what sparked your interest in photography?

A:  “I had a 4th grade teacher who brought in his camera and taught us about photography. He then took us outside and let us use his camera which was loaded with slide film. A week later he showed us the images we took and I was hooked. I was 10 at the time.”

Q:  How would you describe your style, and where do you draw your inspiration from?

A:  “My style is a mix of editorial, fashion and fine-art. I get my photographic inspiration from art and fashion, as well as viewing other photographers work that I love.”

Q:  What did you do before opening your studio in Senoia, Georgia?

A:   “I worked for Ralph Lauren for 8 years as a creative director.”

Q:  How are you able to make your clients feel so comfortable in front of the camera?

A:  “I think that if you show interest in your clients and ask them a lot of questions, it usually puts them at ease. When you can find someone’s passion and ask them about it, that’s when they really come alive.”

Q:  From a photographer’s perspective, what should a bride consider when selecting her bridal gown?

A:  “I think a bride should consider the setting in which she is getting married, and then also what style and cut is most flattering to her particular body type. I think that going to a bridal shop such as Fabulous Frocks is imperative. Trust someone who knows bridal style and what will look best on you. They will know how to properly alter a dress and also know what silhouette is most flattering.”

A huge thank you to Jeremy Harwell for taking the time to share a little about himself with our readers.  For more information on Harwell Photography, please visit their website.  His work is also featured in our post on the Vinewood Plantation.  Don’t wait too long to contact Harwell Photography, they book up fast!

Recently I had the good fortune to tour Vinewood, a charming plantation located in Newnan, just south of Atlanta, Georgia.

We began the tour in the historical home that offers the wedding party a calming retreat for photographs and preparation before the big event.  This beautiful home is also perfect for more intimate events such as bridal luncheons.  Just outside the house is an enchanting porch and pool area which allows guests a chance to mingle, enjoy refreshments, and take in the scenery.

Then we moved to the lawn, where most Vinewood brides choose to be married in front of the beautiful “Wedding Tree.”  The “Wedding Tree” makes for a breathtaking backdrop, and one that requires very little decoration!  Sunlight filters through the tree branches above the wedding party setting the mood for such a romantic event!

Next, we toured the Stables, which serve as the reception venue for most Vinewood Events.  The Stables have been updated to include all contemporary amenities, while retaining their rustic charm.  Long wooden tables with mismatched chairs provide an eclectic environment which encourages guests to relax and enjoy the festivities.

Behind The Stables, a Firepit offers a unique gathering spot to mingle into the wee hours.  Vinewood is one of the most beautiful event venues I have ever seen.  That must be why the are already completely booked for 2012!  Congratulations to all the lucky brides who have booked their upcoming weddings at Vinewood!

If you haven’t already, pick up the current copy of Atlanta Weddings Magazine, which features Vinewood in a gorgeous photo shoot courtesy of the amazingly talented Harwell Photography.  Visit harwellphotography.com to marvel at an array of gorgeous images taken at the Vinewood Plantation.  A huge thank you to Harwell Photography for sharing these beautiful photographs!

Shopping for your wedding dress is an exciting event!  Peruse this checklist before hitting the boutiques to ensure your day is flawless.

  • Your Budget:  Do not go dress shopping before you have a realistic budget in mind.  Dresses range from a few hundred to several thousand, and once you fall in love with a wedding dress you will not be able to forget it easily! Whatever you do, resist the urge to try on a wedding dress that is financially out of reach just for fun.
  • Your Entourage:  It is best to limit your guests to one or two family members or friends that know you well.  The best candidates can separate their own tastes from yours as they help you with one of the most personal decisions you will make.
  • Appropriate Undergarments:  Most boutiques will offer you a strapless bra, but there are no guarantees that it will fit properly.  You might also consider wearing Spanx if you plan to try on form-fitting wedding dresses.  There is a good chance that your consultant or friends will help you in and out of dresses, so make sure you are comfortable being seen in whatever you choose to wear.
  • A Comfortable Pair of Heels:  Your shoes have an impact on how you feel in a wedding dress, and tennis shoes just feel awkward when the rest of you is covered in satin or lace!  To avoid walking around barefoot or borrowing shoes from the bridal boutique, bring a pair of heels that you are comfortable in.
  • Inspiration:  If you have been splurging on bridal magazines, you probably have a scrapbook of dress photos by now.  If so, bring it along to aid in your initial discussion with your salesperson.  You may change your mind completely as you begin to try on wedding dresses, but pictures allow you and your salesperson to begin on the same page.
  • Bridal Accessories:  If you have a special piece of jewelry that you plan to wear on the big day, it should be considered when trying on wedding dresses.  Bring it along so you don’t have to imagine how it will compliment each dress.
  • Your Camera:  Some boutiques do not allow photos, so ask before you start snapping away.  At the very least, you will want a group shot of you with your family or friends to remember your special day!
  • Water and Snacks:  Trying on wedding dresses takes more energy than you might expect!  A bottle of water and a granola bar will keep your energy up if you don’t have time for lunch between appointments.  Don’t forget to bring extra for your entourage!

When choosing your bridal accessories, consider your past, as well as your future.

First, consider honoring a loved one.  My cousin and I were married just two weeks apart.  I have fond memories of the two of us playing dress up in our Grandmother’s jewelry box year after year!  When the time came to select our bridal accessories, we both had the same idea in mind.  Although our bridal gowns were very different, each looked perfect with our Grandmother’s charm bracelet and wedding ring.  Unfortunately, our Grandmother didn’t live long enough to see either of us walk down the aisle, but we felt her presence with us in a very special way.  Before you purchase your accessories, consider wearing something special to remind you of a loved one.

Next, consider your future.  Unlike your wedding gown, your bridal jewelry can be worn for the rest of your life.  Be careful to select pieces that are timeless in design, and of heirloom quality.  A brooch is a terrific piece of jewelry to incorporate into your bridal look.  They are incredibly versatile, and can be worn with confidence at any age.  For instance, for your wedding a brooch could be pinned in your hair, on a sash around your waist, or on the bustle of your gown.  On anniversaries you might add it to the strap of your dress or the lapel of a jacket.  You might even begin a new tradition, with future generations asking to wear “Grandma’s brooch” for their wedding.

Having trouble finding something you love?  At Fabulous Frocks of Atlanta we have carefully selected jewelry from Haute Bride because of their impeccable quality and timeless design, not to mention their reasonable price point.  Call us to schedule your one-on-one appointment.  We would love to help you complete your wedding day look!
